Food Research, Glorious Food Research!

From photographing Tractors to Food Testing technology! Yesterday I was at the impressive Leatherhead Food Research centre in Burgh Heath doing technical shots for some of the state-of-the-art testing equipment in their new purpose-built labs. The Company, who recently moved from their long-term site in Leatherhead, are now housed in a modern facility near to Epsom Downs. The shoot was full of interesting challenges to show the variety of work they carry out which includes the Consumer Insight and Sensory Testing Suites involving local people in their work and the Cooking Instructions kitchens where trained staff verify the cooking instructions of foods to ensure that they’re cooked properly and consumers enjoy the best possible eating experience. The shoot was all done using natural light and generally wide apertures to capture the subjects in a natural and creative way, most of which was using a 50mm F1.8 prime lens on my Nikon D4s - some impressive results! Here I am pictured all togged up with a hairnet and lab coat in the probing lab (aka Cooking Instructions)! Image courtesy of Lucy Beverley.
